UK property giant wins major award assisted by Australian Energy Efficiency leader, EP&T Global

Announcement posted by EP&T Global 16 Mar 2012

LONDON: EP&T Global is proud to announce its major UK client, British Land, has won the prestigious Client Energy Management Award at the 2012 CIBSE Building Performance Awards in London. These awards recognise excellence in sustainable building practices by the international engineering authority, the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). The UK property giant manages, owns, finances and develops prime commercial properties throughout the UK, and finished ahead of worthy competitors.

British Land set itself a challenging target to reduce its energy intensity which would be adopted across its entire managed portfolio. The key to achieving this objective was the implementation of EP&T Global’s unique EDGE technologies. This energy efficiency solution provided detailed data which was automatically uploaded to a central system every 15 minutes, providing a means of continuous measurement, monitoring and prioritisation, which enabled corrective action to be taken.

Having worked closely with British Land since 2009, following an award-winning pilot at their Head Office in London, EP&T Global has continued to work in partnership to deliver significant ahead-of-schedule savings at eleven more properties across their portfolio. As a result, the EDGE system was able to assist British Land’s overall performance for 2010/11 by achieving significant reduction in its energy use across its like-for-like portfolio. This reduction represented:

a saving of 13.2 million kWh

carbon output reduction of 6,675 tonnes

occupiers of British Land’s properties saved 900,000 on their energy bills

Keith Gunaratne, CEO, EP&T Global said: “We would like to congratulate British Land for achieving industry recognition for their pioneering work in energy management. It has been fantastic to play a key role in their sustainability journey over the past couple of years and help them exceed targets to bring financial savings as well as environmental benefits to their occupiers, employees and shareholders.”
