Bids Farewell To David Scott After 38 Years Of Service
Sydney, Australia [March 27, 2012] – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, has appointed John Simpson as the new managing director of its Australia/New Zealand business.  Simpson replaces David Scott, who will retire on March 30 after 38 years with the company.

Simpson, who was General Manager of Chloride Australia for nine years, joined Emerson as a result of the Chloride acquisition in 2011.  Simpson will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Emerson Network Power’s business in Australia and New Zealand, developing business strategies around Emerson’s data centre infrastructure management portfolio as well as continuing to extend the business by building on the integration of recent acquisitions.

“Having arrived at Emerson via the Chloride acquisition, I have seen firsthand the effectiveness of Emerson’s holistic approach to harnessing the strength of complementary products and technologies for its customers,” said Simpson. “The key to the approach is to combine elements in ways that increase effectiveness, drive down costs and are backed by Emerson’s unwavering commitment to the organisations we serve.  It’s really all about responsibility to our customers and tirelessly delivering on each innovation and new opportunity.”

David Scott joined Emerson as a sales executive with Ridge Tools in Vancouver in 1973, which was the start of a near four decade career of assignments spanning the globe.  He was responsible for building the foundation for the Liebert business in Asia in the 1990s which proved to be a critical element of Emerson’s global manufacturing and growth story in the years that followed. Stints in the US and Europe led him to his final posting in Sydney, where he oversaw the integration of the Chloride and Avocent businesses and most recently guided the successful bid for the NBN project.

“It has been an honour to spend the bulk of my professional career at Emerson.  I am especially gratified to be able to retire following our company’s most recent achievements in Australia with confidence that John’s leadership and the strength of the Emerson team will build on these achievements,” said Scott.

Simpson, who holds a masters degree in science and an MBA from the University of Auckland, brings a breadth of industry experience to the new role.  Most recently he was senior director, Operations, ANZ MU.  In his early career, Simpson held senior business management positions with Raychem Corporation and RS Components covering ANZ and South East Asia.  As managing director he will continue to be based in Sydney and report to Gene Hayden, Emerson Network Power Asia’s Vice President and General Manager of Sales.
