E-Waste Recycling Information Sessions for Local Councils

Announcement posted by Infoactiv 09 May 2012

Information sessions for local councils about TV and computer recycling are scheduled for Melbourne and Sydney.

As part of delivering its national recycling program, Australia and New Zealand Recycling Platform Limited (ANZRP) is running a series of information sessions to update local government on collection and recycling opportunities.

More specifically, the sessions will provide an opportunity for ANZRP and councils to discuss how the program will be delivered and funded, as well how individual councils and regions can participate as collection partners. ANZRP is eager to hear directly from councils about how to work together in the establishment of collection services for television and computer waste.

ANZRP is the industry-led product stewardship program which will commence operations across Australia in July 2012. The service will be funded by member companies from the consumer electronics and IT industries. ANZRP
is an approved Co-regulatory Arrangement under the Australian Government's National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme. It has the support of more than 16 television and computer companies that are global brands, manufacturers and importers. ANZRP is working in collaboration with its suppliers and will ensure that the outcomes of the National Scheme are addressed in an environmentally sound manner.

ANZRP has also just published a Guide for Collection Partners which outlines how councils can choose an environmentally responsible Co-Regulatory Arrangement. Copies of the Guide will be available at the information sessions or via the ANZRP website.

The Melbourne information session will be held on Friday 11th May 2012 from 9:30am - 12:30pm, at EPA Victoria - Level 4 Conference Room, 200 Victoria Street Carlton.

The Sydney information session will be held on Tuesday 15th May 2012 from 9:30am - 12:30pm, at Toshiba Australia - Building C, 12-24 Talavera Road North Ryde.

Come along to hear about ANZRP’s television and computer waste recycling program and the process for rolling out collection sites and events over the next 12 months. Partnering with ANZRP means that collection partners can benefit from a national service that is environmentally robust, cost effective and community friendly.
