Reward a hard-working volunteer

Announcement posted by NRMA Motoring & Services 15 May 2012

Volunteers across NSW and the ACT will be recognised for their hard work and dedication in the community with the launch of NRMA’s annual Helping People Awards today.
NRMA President Wendy Machin said the NRMA’s 2012 Helping People Awards honoured volunteers from a charity or not-for-profit organisation and expected hundreds of nominations to pour in over the next few months.

“The NRMA is calling on the public to nominate volunteers from their community who they believe deserve to be recognised,” Ms Machin said.

“So many volunteers quietly dedicate themselves to helping others – they help to hold communities together and that’s why the NRMA wants to recognise their work.

“Our 2011 award winners are a diverse group of passionate volunteers who continue to make a huge difference in their local communities.

“The NRMA will be honouring four volunteers in 2012 and the awards are a perfect opportunity to nominate the people you think most deserving of an award.

“Each winner will receive a $5,000 donation to the charity they volunteer for, plus a well-deserved Australian holiday for two.”

Volunteers can be nominated in one of the following categories until Friday 20 July 2012:

Young Volunteer Award (age 16-24)
Prize: Seven-night cruise for two from Brisbane around Queensland’s northern beaches and Great Barrier Reef, including flights.
Conservation Volunteer Award (age 16+)
Prize: Five-day holiday tour of Darwin and Kakadu, staying at the Travelodge Mirambeena Resort, for two including flights.
Community Volunteer Award (age 25-59)
Prize: $1000 accommodation voucher to spend at one or more of NRMA’s five Holiday Parks in NSW/QLD, plus a $500 fuel voucher.
Senior Volunteer Award (age 60+)
Prize: Five day’s in Melbourne, staying at Travelodge Southbank, for two adults including flights and tickets to a theatre show.

“Volunteers do so much that we never hear about, so let’s raise the roof and make some noise about how much we appreciate these special people,” Ms Machin said.
