ZyXEL Releases Social Networking Security Tools for Small Businesses

The ZyXEL ZyWALL USG series of internet security appliances offer a small business a comprehensive set of security protection services. Features include anti-virus and anti-spam protection, website and social media site content filtering, firewall, VPN technologies, and intrusion prevention.
According to Nielsen’s recent worldwide report “State of the Media Q3 2011”, Australians spend the longest time each month on social media sites, with an average of 7 hours and 17 minutes per person.
The compact ZyWALL hardware appliances include application control capabilities, which give businesses granular control over social networking applications such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instant Messaging (IM), and Peer to Peer (P2P) file sharing.
Employee access to social media sites can be selectively blocked or allowed, with the ability to restrict access based on groups of users, or time of day. The amount of Internet bandwidth available to social media applications can also be limited.
The security appliance is capable of allowing employees to securely access business files while they are away from the office, using securely encrypted VPN technologies. Specific support is included to simplify access to this data using iPhones, iPads or Android tablets.

The ZyWALL USG series of security appliances includes a range of models, ranging from units suitable for home office environments, through to offices with 100 employees.
The ZyWALL USG 20W includes 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Four of the ports can be used for local network connection with the other connecting to your modem/router. This allows for easy connection to the rest of your local network. In addition, it includes wireless access point functionality, with support for 802.11b/g/n.
The ZyWALL USG 20W plus a 1 year subscription to Bluecoat content filtering and Antispam has a suggested retail price of $500 ex GST in Australia, and $650 ex GST in New Zealand.
