Deakin the best Aussie sparkling wine at Decanter UK awards

Only Champagne came close!

Deakin Estate Wines near Mildura Victoria has not only won a gold medal at London’s DecanterWorld Wine Awards 2012 announced yesterday but it was the highest scoring Australian sparkling wine – no other Australian sparkling wine won a trophy or gold. This means that Deakin Estate received asimilar score to some of the most prestigious and expensive French Champagnes such as Piper Heidsieck, Mumm and Taittinger, who won gold medals in the same class.

Over 200 wine merchants, sommeliers, journalists and authors including 54 Masters of Wine and 11 Master Sommeliers, took part in a week of judging in April.”
