International experience prepares Cafe2U for New Zealand launch

Cafe2U, the world’s largest mobile coffee franchise, has announced that it will launch its first New Zealand franchise this July. This comes on the back of the successful launch of the brand in the UK, Ireland, USA, and Germany in recent years.

For many Australian franchise systems, New Zealand is often seen as a logical starting place for international expansion; however the team at Cafe2U saw things very differently as international interest grew. Alan Biddle, General Manager of International Franchise Development with Cafe2U explains why resisting the early temptation to expand into New Zealand has been the right decision.

“New Zealand has a well developed espresso coffee culture, so we needed to be confident that we could deliver our complete business model in New Zealand without any compromises. Our system is so much more than just a vehicle and equipment, it’s about creating an environment in which our franchisees can prosper, and this stems from high quality systems, products and support. Our decisionto launch in other international markets first allowed us to test our ability to create such an environment for our franchisees, even in markets like the UK and the USA where espresso coffee is still very much in its infancy. Success in these markets has provide us with the confidence that our model will not only meet, but exceed both franchisee and consumer expectations in New Zealand”.

Cafe2U now has over 200 successful franchises in operation across 8 countries, and have indicated that franchise opportunities will commence being offered in New Zealand in July. Cafe2U have also confirmed that they will be exhibiting at the New Zealand Business Opportunities and Franchise Exhibition in Auckland between the 10th and 12th August 2012.
