Sunshine Coast business owner Yvette Adams has been announced as a finalist in the 2012 AusMumpreneur Awards in the category of AusMumpreneur of The Year for the second year running with a Mumpreneur of course being a cross between a Mum and an entrepreneur!

The 2012 AusMumpreneur Awards presented by connect2mums celebrate and recognise Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business, product development, services and innovation in businesses from Australia and New Zealand. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

Yvette started The Creative Collective a full service creative agency offering everything from website design and development to graphic design and print, marketing and PR, search engine optimisation and search engine marketing, social media + more from the study nook of her Maroochydore home in 2007 after the birth of her second child. It has grown since to employ 5 full time staff, 35 contractors, two franchisees (1 in Newcastle and 1 on the Gold Coast).

In more recent years the company has diversified into offering a range of education and training opportunities, on topics related to achieving online and business success. The company currently offers a number of Government subsidised programs, webinars, seminars and through these initiatives as well as public speaking opportunities, Yvette has mentored thousands of Australians to understand new digital technologies and to understand online success.

Yvette purchased a two storey commercial building and moved the home-based business to central Maroochydore one year ago, she says her humble beginnings are still firmly etched in her mind.

“I am very proud of my humble business origins starting a business with a newborn and a three-year-old running around at home. And right from the start, my plan was to enjoy the lifestyle benefits that being a Mumpreneur can bring such as changing your schedule around the changing needs of your children as they grow up, as well as uncapped earnings potential. Working for yourself, from home, around kids is an ideal I know many women uphold. I hope I can inspire other Mums and other young women, that it is not only possible (if you wish) to work from home around kids, but it is also possible to have a thriving business and maintain your sanity!”

The winners of the 2012 AusMumpreneur Awards will be announced at a glamorous awards dinner at Park Royal, Darling Harbour on Saturday 8 September.
