Olympic Bronze Medalist, Hayden Stoeckel - Press Conference Tomorrow

Announcement posted by SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre 21 Aug 2012

A press conference with Olympic Bronze Medalist, Hayden Stoeckel, will be held poolside at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre tomorrow (Wednesday 22 August 2012) at 9:30am.

Hayden, along with his coach, Peter Bishop, and the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre General Manager, Adam Luscombe, will be available for media questions.

Hayden has returned home to South Australia this week with a Bronze Medal around his neck for his part in the 4 x 100m Medley and the satisfaction that he swam the fastest he has ever swum in a textile suit. Hayden also swam faster at the London Olympics than what he did at the Swimming Olympic Trials held at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre in March this year. This medal is the first ‘home grown’ Olympic medal that has been produced out of SA’s newest sporting facility, the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre.

Peter Bishop, coach of Hayden Stoeckel, has indicated that Hayden will have a well-earned rest before getting back into training for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with a view to also compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Hayden will continue swimming with the SA Aquatic High Performance Squad at Australia’s premier aquatic facility, where he has been training for the last 8 months.

The SAALC High Performance and Swimming Club Program started in January 2012 and in July, SAALC announced that the Marion Swim Club would be joining the structure as part of the development of swimmers whom would then progress through to the High Performance Squad.
