SAP goes in search of startups interested in developing solutions on top of the enterprise application platform SAP HANA

Announcement posted by SAP 29 Aug 2012

After a series of successful events around the world, SAP Australia has announced that the global SAP Startup Forum is launching in Australia. This initiative offers startups a unique opportunity to create easy-to-access solutions using SAP HANA to help solve real-world problems.

Organised by local SAP teams, Startup Forums provide a platform for SAP to meet and engage with entrepreneurs from major innovation hubs around the world. The SAP Startup Forum will be held in Sydney on Friday 21st September.

“Australians are great innovators, and launching this initiative enables startups to gain access to one of SAP’s most innovative solutions, SAP HANA. We are really thrilled that we are able to bring this program to Sydney, and very much look forward to engaging with our local entrepreneurs as they look for ways to contribute to Australia’s economic future,” said Dereck Daymond, GM Database and Technology Group at SAP.

Participating in the Sydney Startup Forum is the first step for entrepreneurs to becoming part of the SAP Startup Forum, which aims to help companies with high growth potential to scale their business as they grow.

SAP is offering simple, inexpensive and effective development opportunities to all eligible companies.
It aims to help them understand what SAP has to offer, and gives them a chance to pitch their ideas to executives from SAP and SAP Ventures, the independent venture fund of SAP AG.

The SAP Startup Forum is working closely with SAP Ventures, which has announced US$155 million in funding to identify and cultivate ground-breaking startups who can deliver high quality solutions to help solve business problems using SAP HANA.

From each Startup Forum, six to ten promising firms are invited to join a development accelerator (DA). The objective in DA is to build, initially, a Proof of Concept (PoC) and, eventually, a product with explicit business value.

The event is by invitation only. Interested innovators can register via an online form (choose Sydney as the preferred location). During the registration process, entrepreneurs must provide details about their business, product stage and current ‘big data’ challenges. If selected to participate in the Sydney Startup Forum, they will receive an official invitation to attend.
