Social peer-funding site StartSomeGood has reached its 20th international market, with the addition of Chinese social enterprise Prop Roots to its line-up of over 85 peer-funding ventures.

Sydney-based Australian co-founder Tom Dawkins highlighted the significance of this milestone to the fast-growing social enterprise sector. "We live in an increasingly interconnected world, but many of the fundraising platforms which focus on social benefit are exclusive to a particular country. We know that great social entrepreneurs with inspiring ideas to improve their communities exist everywhere, and having funded projects in 20 countries is an exciting affirmation of that belief."

Since its launch in 2011, StartSomeGood has launched over 85 successful campaigns for ventures in  Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Russia, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, the UK, and the US.

"It's only the beginning though," said Dawkins. "Our goal is to create the best fundraising website to empower social entrepreneurs in every country on earth to create the future their community needs."

Recent ventures to have secured vital funding through the site include PropRoots, a non-profit supporting the Jingpo minority in a remote province of China. Closer to home, Australian social entrepreneurs have been enthusiastic users of StartSomeGood, funding projects ranging from the Soften the Fck Up youth mental health campaign to The Dandelion Network, a peer-to-peer sharing network for infant care supplies, and One Can Grow, a training program for youth entrepreneurs. (Founders of The Dandelion Network and One Can Grow are available for interview). And in the US, the Do Good Bus raised $100,000 on StartSomeGood to support multiple social ventures and citizen engagement in a national tour across 22 cities.

"Our goal is to create a world where anyone, anywhere can create a new future for their community," explained co-founder Alex Budak. "Changemakers aren't limited by borders and neither are we.  We're proud to support innovators from around the world and look forward to the day we're celebrating our 196th country being represented."
