Emantra appointed to key Federal Government IT panel

Announcement posted by Infotech Marketing & Communications Pty Ltd 18 Oct 2012

Brings proven cloud capability to Canberra

Leading Australian enterprise hosting provider, Emantra Pty Ltd, has been included in the Multi Use List for Data Centre as a Service which was published today by the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO).

The Multi Use List (MUL) aims to facilitate and simplify the take up of cloud and cloud-like solutions by federal government agencies.  While targeted at smaller agencies, the MUL also contains scalable solutions suitable for larger agencies.

Emantra’s managing director, Ross Dewar, said the company is included in the AGIMO list because of its proven ability to deliver a catalogue of fixed price private cloud solutions which has been developed over seven years of successful commercial experience.

“Our solutions, which are aimed at common agency business problems, will allow agencies to evolve away from specific and unique systems towards a more consolidated, standard and shared environment.  A key benefit will be cost saving,” Mr. Dewar said.

Emantra offers a broad range “Microsoft-as-a-Service” catalogue covering applications such as: Exchange, SharePoint, Lync and Dynamics CRM; platforms such as Virtualised Hyper-V servers, Managed SQL or Webserver farms; and infrastructure services such as Virtual Servers on Demand, Remote Back-up and DR capabilities.

Importantly, these services are not resold versions of offshore hosted products.  Emantra’s services are provided under Microsoft’s partner-hosted model, hosted within top-tier ACT data centres which are listed on AGIMO’s Data Centre Facilities Panel and fully managed and supported by Emantra in Australia.  The services leverage the licence eligibility under the federal government’s Microsoft “VSA” licence programme through either assignment or licence mobility provisions.

The services are all connectible to ICON, sit behind Emantra’s own Secure Internet Gateway (SIG) which is DSD Certified to Protected level, and are routable though other approved SIGs.

Mr. Dewar said Emantra looks forward to interest and take-up from federal government agencies.

“We welcome the opportunity to prove that the efficiency and economic benefits which this model has proven in the commercial sphere can be realised just as well in the government market,” he said.
