ElectricityWizard.com.au Electricity Comparison CEO Encourages Energy Customers with Potential NSW Price Drop

Announcement posted by ElectricityWizard.com.au 19 Oct 2012

The New South Wales Government plans to support healthy competition in the energy marketplace by making critical amendments to energy price regulations in the next year. ElectricityWizard CEO Alan Belkin believes this change will provide customers with hope who can no longer afford expensive utilities.

Expert energy broker and ElectricityWizard CEO Alan Belkin encourages customers finding it difficult to pay quarterly electricity bills with the news that New South Wales energy rates may drop in the near future.

According to a recent statement from the NSW Government, officials plan to support healthy competition in the electricity marketplace by making changes to energy price regulations starting in July 2013. Belkin believes that this is one smart move to decrease pressure on outrageous electricity prices in the statewide energy market.

Belkin looks forward to the new terms that will be released by the NSW Energy Minister to IPART to regulate how electricity and gas rates will be determined within the next three years. These amended reference terms will encourage more competition in the energy market by providing customers with access to lower energy rates than those determined through the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.

Belkin agrees with the Energy Minister’s assessment in that, "The previous terms of reference have set regulated prices far too high for the average energy customer. In order for customers to continue to afford annual power, more flexibility is necessary to relieve pressure on the electricity market, while still encouraging healthy competition."

Energy Minister Chris Hartcher confirms that roughly 50% of households in New South Wales have already transferred from standard regulated rates by shopping competitively for cheaper energy deals. ElectricityWizard CEO Belkin is all-too-familiar with this shift in the marketplace as he provides customers with a free energy comparison day after day; his company has already helped over 50,000 Australians to access lower local energy rates.

The New South Wales Government plans to continue to offer a regulated price option until they believe that the energy market has become fair enough to provide customers with the most competitive prices available.

For customers who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of rising energy rates, this is welcome news. The NSW Government is doing its part to support the average household by making market energy rates more affordable.
