WatchGuard Announces Seventh Straight Quarter of Double-Digit Growth

Announcement posted by WatchGuard Technologies 29 Oct 2012

Strong Q3 Results Driven by Surge in APAC Business and Newly Revamped 5 Series
WatchGuard® Technologies, a global leader in manageable business security solutions, has announced its Q3 financial results which continued a seven-quarter trend of double-digit year-over-year (YoY) growth. Driven by demand for WatchGuard’s core firewall and Unified Threat Management (UTM) products, the Asia Pacific (APAC) region saw YoY gains of 42 percent.

While other UTM vendors have reported YoY decline in Q3 revenues, WatchGuard’s growth trend continues with 13 percent overall UTM growth. WatchGuard’s enterprise-class products, such as the XTM 8, 10, and 20 Series, targeted at mid-sized and large distributed enterprises, showed a significantly higher rate of growth.

Newly updated 5 Series
WatchGuard credits much of its Q3 success to its newly updated XTM 5 Series UTM appliances. Within two months of availability, these solutions completely replaced the previous generation of the XTM 5 Series.

“WatchGuard decided five years ago to base our UTM products on industry standard hardware,” said Pat Devlin, Regional Director ANZ at WatchGuard Technologies. “This lets us move our UTM technology quickly and efficiently to newly emerging high-performance platforms, as we demonstrated in Q3 with our high-selling 5 Series. These high-performance products have proven extremely popular with customers.”

WatchGuard appliances offer competitive UTM performance, security features, and more management and flexibility than other UTM providers. IT administrators can manage from a centralised console, with access to real-time monitoring and rich reporting. WatchGuard provides its manageability tools at no extra cost.

Manageability drives revenue surge in the ANZ and APAC region
“More and more businesses in the ANZ and greater Asia Pacific region are starting to understand the benefit of managing a large network from one centralised console,” said Scott Robertson, vice president, Asia Pacific at WatchGuard. “Other solutions are just not able to compete with our ease of use.”
