Local event set to bring the Sunshine Coast's families closer together

The Sunshine Coast features a wide range of youth services however as a parent or member of the local community, do you know what is out there, and where to go for help if you, or someone you know ever needs it?

Help is indeed there for those who need it, and several of the Coast’s youth service providers have banded together to put on the inaugural Connect 4 Expo, an event which will take part as Social Inclusion Day to improve community collaboration and increase awareness of the services available to young people and families across the Sunshine Coast region. 

United Synergies, IFYS, Community Solutions, QLD Youth Industry Links and the Sunshine Coast Council will host the event on Thursday 29 November from 3pm – 8pm.

Felicity Park on Omrah Street, Caloundra will be turned into a lively showground pavilion for the afternoon with over 50 local community groups/organisations/clubs promoting the services and resources they offer the Sunshine Coast community.

The event will also feature live music, dance flash mobs, zombie face painting, steam punk recycled art and jewellery, slushie bike, traditional indigenous games, wii games on a large cinema outdoor screen, hair & make-up demonstrations; leading experts on topics related to parenting and getting through your teenage years  - understanding the mind of a teen, bullying, career options, study options, entrepreneurial options; stalls featuring a wide range of support services to sports groups, education and training providers, business and industry, communitry groups from around the Coast; local food including a youth kitchen and the opportunity to win spot prizes.

Leading experts on topics related to parenting and getting through your teenage years will run workshops inside two spaces of the Caloundra Library including sessions on bullying, career options, study options and entrepreneurial options.
