Readify Taking Windows 8 to Five Cities This Month

Announcement posted by Readify - Application Development Specialists 07 Nov 2012

Register now to attend the roadshow and find out more about this seismic shift in the IT world

Amid confirmation from Microsoft Corp. chief executive Steve Ballmer that the brand new Windows 8 operating system is off to a stunning start, Readify will hold a five-city roadshow aimed at educating organisations on the best development practices to improve their responsiveness and stay competitive.

With the launch of Visual Studio 2012, Microsoft is providing tooling that targets the biggest makeover to the Windows operating system in two decades, as well as new technologies like mobile and tablet computing, cloud based applications, bring-your-own-device schemes, and touch based interfaces.

The roadshow will take people through the thinking and industry trends that went into the design of Visual Studio 2012 line up.  It will also discuss the industry wide move to more agile processes such as Scrum and Lean/Kanban and how Visual Studio 2012 supports these modern development practices that help organisations to improve their responsiveness and stay competitive.

Readify, which won the highly-coveted 2012 Microsoft Software Development Partner of the Year Award, notes that Microsoft's operating systems power nine out of every 10 computers in the world.  Just recently, Microsoft has confirmed that there have been 4 million Windows 8 upgrades in the first three days of release.

Readify acknowledges that the mobile market is dominated by Apple Inc. and Google Inc.'s Android, with Android's success showing that consumers are interested in more than just a single brand of mobile device and are comfortable switching devices.  It notes that Microsoft has a proven ability to come to a market late and be successful.

"The Xbox and Azure are great recent examples of Microsoft entering a market, playing the long game and iterating to success," says Richard Banks, Principal Consultant at Readify and Agile/ALM Technical Specialist.

"The decision to change direction with Windows Phone 8 and tie it closely to Windows 8, combined with Microsoft moving into the hardware business via the Surface shows again that Microsoft are once again iterating their way to success."

While we have seen that while organisations are following the consumer lead and putting into place adoption programs for iPads and Android devices, these adoption programs are often difficult, complex and generally tend to fail or fall well short of the hoped for goals, explains Australia's leading software development service provider.

"With Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 organisations are considering these platforms as the most likely solution for bringing the tablet and mobile revolution into the enterprise, and for consistency many are also seriously considering updating their desktop environments to Windows 8 as well to provide a completely consistent experience regardless of device."

Join Readify for breakfast at your local city this month and find out how your development team can build modern applications using the Microsoft platform:

Instead of being a showbag filled with mini demos, this intimate event is structured to mimic a modern development flow, starting with requirements gathering then moving through to planning and tracking the project, on to development practices and building the applications and finally into production.
