SAP Education partners with Brisbane North Institute of TAFE to upskill IT workforce in Queensland

Announcement posted by SAP 19 Nov 2012

SAP Australia and New Zealand announced that it has partnered with Brisbane North Institute of TAFE (BNIT) to provide a self-paced learning program which offers online SAP courses, to help address IT skills shortages in Queensland.

BNIT will be the first TAFE in Australia to offer the online, self-paced SAP courses as a part of SAP’s uAcademy, a skills-based learning program targeted at business and IT students.

Francesca Salvo, Director of SAP Education, Australia and New Zealand said: “Enterprise applications adoption has grown in recent years, and this growth is expected to continue”.

“SAP professionals are in high demand for their technical and business skills, as well as their abilities to deliver SAP solutions to enterprises and government. Despite this demand, the number of students graduating from universities who understand the business value of enterprise software, or who are able to integrate their business acumen with use of solutions in organisations is low.”

“Working directly with BNIT on SAP training will help to ensure that students receive appropriate SAP certification that is recognised in the industry.”

The program will be facilitated by BNIT through the provision of subsidised opportunities for individuals to supplement their business skills with SAP skills which are in high demand with employers. The programme will also be provided to BNIT’s commercial customers, including QSS.

BNIT Institute Director, Lynne Foley says the landmark alliance provides a unique opportunity for students to train in a high-demand skill area in a cost effective way.
“Through our relationship we aim to introduce much needed SAP skills to the marketplace and provide an entry point for students wanting to begin or enhance their existing careers in SAP related roles,” Ms Foley said.

The program offers pre-existing, online SAP training courses that better equip students with basic to advanced SAP skills, with content and related support provided by SAP Education.

The SAP uAcademy courses provide a combination of e-learning and hands-on experience. They offer digital content added to the ability to interact with SAP software and live training systems to reinforce lessons. Students will also be equipped with the knowledge to sit SAP Associate Certification, a vocational qualification which employers now seek from job candidates.
