MEDIA RELEASE

SHOPPERS IN FRENZY OVER SPEED AND EFFICIENCY OF AAPT’S CDN

Sydney, November 2012- AAPT has delivered a winning solution for two participating retail sites in Tuesday’s ClickFrenzy online shopping event helping to maintain the operation of websites for Bras ‘n’ Things and General Pants amid unprecedented demand from customers.

In anticipation of increased traffic on Tuesday night, digital agency Reactive www.reactive.com sought assistance from AAPT in order to better manage the demand from customers who visited their client sites www.brasnthings.com/ and www.generalpants.com.au/. AAPT worked closely with CDN supplier EdgeCast to migrate the sites onto AAPT’s Content Delivery Network (CDN) platform, a move that ensured both sites were able to stay live during the event.

AAPT CEO David Yuile said it was thanks to the organisation’s advanced CDN capabilities that the sites remained live.

“Bras ‘n’ Things and General Pants were able to offload all their site traffic to the CDN platform allowing larger computing capacity and were therefore able to protect their own infrastructure whilst gaining revenue,” said David Yuile.

“The EdgeCast content delivery network optimises content for the fastest possible loading times regardless of the end user's location. In the case of ClickFrenzy, our CDN provided the flexibility necessary to accommodate flash crowds and surges in demand that many retailers failed to provide their customers.”

Shoppers left comments on both sites praising the speed at which browsing was possible and stating that it was unbelievable they remained up and running despite the unprecedented demand and the virtual inaccessibility of other retail portals.

Tuesday’s ClickFrenzy hype dissipated shortly after 7pm AEST as the host website buckled under the enormous demand from online shoppers. As a result, customers were forced to seek out ClickFrenzy deals from the respective websites of participating retailers and subsequently a number of these sites also failed to handle the demand.
