Announcement posted by Female For Life Fitness Clothing 17 Dec 2012

Female For Life provide resources to help make 2013 the healthiest year ever for Australian women.

The new year is upon us and the time again to make those fitness goals. Sound familiar? Yes, because I'm sure you said those words last year, but still haven't been able to attain them. This year Female for Life would like to help you set goals that you can achieve now and continue to maintain. How? A fitness goal is a lifestyle change for your mind and body. It is short-term goals that help you maintain a long-term goal. You must be prepared to make changes if you want to see results, but making those changes all at once can be overwhelming and challenging. Consequently many people give up before they have even started. So how do we make these changes successfully and make them stick?

Firstly the goal setting process.

Yes, you need an ultimate goal in mind, but many peoples ultimate goals are so far from where they are at the present that the adrenalin rush of “yes I can do this” soon fades when they realise just how far they are from their goal.

Solution: Have an ultimate goal but also set goals that get results, smaller, realistic achievable mini goals. Tell others about your goals. Work out and plan practically the best way to achieve your goals, but also be adaptable and flexible. If you are too rigid in your expectations, you are more likely to give up if you fall short of one of your goals.

5 Example Mini goals to get started to your ultimate Fitness Goal.

1 - Go to bed earlier, get up earlier. You need adequate sleep to help your muscles recover from exercise and help you mentally be able to achieve your goals. How to find that extra 20 minutes to exercise in a day? Get up 20 minutes earlier!

2 - Hold a plank for 60 seconds. It is one of the best ways to build core strength as you use your obliques, abdominals and lower back muscles and can be done anywhere anytime.

3 - Cut out juices or fizzy drinks. The hidden sugars even in juices are one of the biggest calorie wasters. Drink water with a squeeze of lemon or lime as an alternative.

4 - Cook using more fresh produce at least once a day. A healthy diet goes hand in hand with a healthy fitness level and lifestyle

5 - Exercise for a minimum 20 minutes a day 6 days a week. Try new exercises like pilates or yoga. They can be done in the comfort of your own home and you don't need any equipment.

Choose a fitness goal that is meaningful to you, not someone else’s expectation. You will be more motivated to stick with a routine in the long term. Re-set your mini goals regularly. The more you achieve the more motivated you will be for bigger ones.
