Readify increase profits for Webjet

Announcement posted by Readify - Application Development Specialists 19 Dec 2012

Webjet is Australia and New Zealand’s largest online travel agency. Leading the way in online travel tools and technology, Webjet enables customers to easily search and book the best domestic and international travel flight deals, travel insurance, car

Webjet receives over 75 million site visits globally each year and has experienced 16 consecutive half years of growth since 2004.

With such a fast growth rate, Webjet saw a need for an effective way to extend their reach beyond users of a single device without multiplying their implementation costs. A mobile presence was deemed necessary by Webjet in order to remain competitive in the marketplace.

Readify has been a trusted software development advisor to Webjet for nearly a decade. Webjet are clear innovators in their industry and were already aware that the Windows Azure cloud platform may form part of their future strategy. Readify worked with Webjet to validate that Windows Azure could indeed handle their mobile workloads and be integrated with their privately hosted backend systems to create a viable hybrid-solution.

Rather than expand their private hosting infrastructure to handle this new workload, Webjet chose to work with Readify to create a hybrid web application, targeting mobile devices including Windows Phone, iPhone and Android.

Solution

Readify built a mobile website in HTML5 using ASP.NET MVC framework to improve customer user experience and satisfaction by catering to the needs of the mobile user.

Readify developed the solution using Microsoft’s Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools that gave Webjet complete and transparent visibility into the progress of the project. With continuous integration, deployment and unit testing, the Readify team was able to identify any regressions and address them immediately.

Managing the whole ALM process through Visual Studio enabled the team to achieve high productivity gains and get to market faster.
