Peter Edwards Photography Offers Ideas for Festive Season Weddings in Australia

Announcement posted by Peter Edwards Photography 30 Jan 2013

Distinguished Perth wedding photographer offers tips to make festive season and Christmas weddings even more joyous.
Christmas is Australia’s most beloved holiday, filled with family get togethers, parties with friends, presents, and goodwill for all. It is also a time that has, over the years, become increasingly popular for weddings. At a time in history when families are spread around the world, Christmas weddings are a great opportunity for families to combine and celebrate two events at a time when everyone is travelling home.

For some couples, Christmas has an important spiritual significance and they may like to make reference to this in their wedding theme. Subtle references can be included in the invitation design, guest favours, table decorations, flowers and accessories.

The decorations could include traditional Christmas foliage and flowers such as holly, ivy, baby’s breath and poinsettias. Other ideas include contemporary flowers such as gerberas and lilies, or an Australian influence such as the Waratah, the Christmas tree flower or the Eucalyptus Silver Princess flowers.

The menu can include Christmas fare, serving traditional Christmas food or the Australian favourite - seafood. And of course, an Australian Christmas celebration wouldn’t be the same without a well-chilled and slightly spiked fruit punch.

According to Peter Edwards, a reputable wedding photographer from Perth, “It’s already a holiday period in Australia, people are already in the mood to celebrate, and most people are already off work. People usually get together for the holidays and those living away will often be travelling home; why not plan your wedding while everyone is already together?”

Edwards continued, “It’s a great combination: the festive time of the year, and a couple’s special day.I have personally photographed hundreds of weddings. I’ve noticed Christmas weddings will often inspire family and friends to make the extra effort to travel from afar to join the wedding celebration, making the wedding day celebration even more special.”

Edwards elaborated: “The memories of every wedding last a lifetime, and Christmas weddings are no exception. If anything, they make the memories even more vivid, due to the unique juxtaposition of Christmas and traditional wedding decorations and symbolisms. For couples who get married around Christmas, every Christmas is a reminder of their wedding, and a great time to celebrate their anniversary.”

Edwards concluded, “If you’re planning a wedding and have friends and family living around the world this could be the time to start planning your festive season wedding. We always advocate planning weddings as early as possible, and it is especially important to make reservations as early as possible for any festive season wedding. When it comes to any wedding during the Christmas season, venues are often booked far in advance. It is also a bit more difficult to book caterers during the festive season, because it is their busiest time of the year. If you have decided that Christmas season is the perfect time for your special day, don’t hesitate to start making reservations now.”
