Cosima stays true to her roots and does it for Australian Idol!
When you think of the first season of 'Australian Idol' you cant go past one of the stand out contestants - Cosima De Vito. When Cosima developed throat nodules at the last post in the first season of Australian Idol and made the controversial decision to leave the contest after making the competitions top 3, Australia was devastated and Cosima's future was uncertain. "Looking back on the time of my life fills me with so many mixed emotions, `I will always cherish the wonderful memories I have from that amazing time but I'll also never forget how truly heart renching it was to leave the contest at such a high point." Cosima says.
Not content and certainly not ready to give up Cosima treated her nodules and soon went on to make Australian history as the first independent artist ever to debut at #1 with her take on the Cold Chisel track 'When The War Is Over' which perfectly showcased her powerhouse vocals and show stopping presence.
Taking the #1 spot was not enough for the ambitious artist and Cosima quickly launched an all out attack on the Australian music charts with a long list of smash hits and numerous national tours.
Fast forward 10 years and Cosima is still the golden girl with the big voice, the girl who refused to let fate control her destiny! After a 3 year break from the industry, 2012 marked a return to music with her much loved dance track "Right Here, Right Now' and the stunning Christmas carol 'O Holy Night.' as well as a nomination for 'Australian Female Artist of The Year' - IT Awards. These releases were not only embraced by Cosima's army of loyal fans but were filled with a new found energy and passion - Cosima was not only ready for the next phase of her career but had a newly developed hunger and passion for the industry.
To celebrate Cosima's 10 years in the industry and indeed 10 years since Australian Idol gave Cosima her first big break, she is thrilled to announce that she will release a reworked version of one of the most popular songs she performed on the hit TV show. When Cosima performed the classic dance track 'Hot Stuff' it marked an undeniable turning point for Cosima in the show. Suddenly Cosima wasn't just about ballads, this performance introduced the country to the sexier side of the fiery Italian and the performance has long been a fan favourite. Cosima says, "For me, releasing 'Hot Stuff' is a true indication of coming full circle, I've been on such a great ride and yes, it's been a roller-coaster of up and downs but I'm still here doing what I love and that's what matters. The fact that it's also Idol's 10 year anniversary is something that's very special to me. I owe a lot to Australian Idol and I'm proud of where I came from."
I guess it's also my way of saying thank you to not only the show but to the country for embracing my music over the years and giving me the opportunity to do what I Love. I've learned so much and it's true, having a dream is simply not enough - you have to chase it with all your might!"
