SHOCK RECORDS APPOINTS NEW GENERAL MANAGER

Announcement posted by Shock Entertainment 26 Feb 2013

Shock Records, Australia’s leading independent record label, today announced the appointment of Craig May as their new General Manager of Music. May will be responsible for overseeing strategic growth of the business in the territories of Australia and New Zealand.

May brings with him over 14 years experience in the music industry having worked at both major and independent labels including EMI, Sony, Stomp, and most recently, Dew Process.

Talking about his new role, Craig May says ‘Shock is part of Australia’s musical heritage; it’s a great label with an impressive history and an exciting future. I am really looking forward to working with the artists on the roster and all the opportunities and challenges that this role will offer.’

Craig’s appointment comes as Leigh Gruppetta steps down from the role after 8 years of service. During his time Leigh was responsible for driving numerous successful album campaigns for acts including The Prodigy, Crystal castles, The Black Keys, Bloc Party and Groove Armada and establishing Shock Records as Australia’s largest independent music distributor.

‘I've enjoyed 8 amazing years at Shock and I am happy to be leaving with the role in safe hands,’ explains Leigh.  ‘Craig has a great opportunity to put his own stamp on the department. His broad industry experience will deliver clear direction and a new energy to the business.'

Craig will officially join Shock Records in March 2013.
