Snap your story (for free) at Carlton Harmony Day

Visitors to Carlton Harmony Day, this Thursday 21 March, will be able to take free photos of themselves with family, friends and neighbours at the Australian Unity Carlton Harmony Day photo booth.

An Australian Government initiative, Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home and a celebration of cultural diversity, which encourages equality and inclusion for all people regardless of race, age, gender or religious beliefs.  The Carlton Harmony Day community festival will run between 3:30 – 8:00 pm at the Carlton Housing Estate.

In keeping with this year's Harmony Day theme, "Many Stories — One Australia", Australian Unity encourages everyone who visits the Carlton Harmony Day event to have their photo taken to commemorate this special day.

Derek McMillan, Chief Executive Officer for Australian Unity Retirement Living said the event provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the cultural differences in the Carlton community through music, food and activities.

"We hope our free photo booth will provide some fun for everyone and they can share their cultural diversity story by having their photo taken, with free prints to remember the occasion," Mr McMillan said.

Australian Unity will also have an information stand at the event where visitors can find out about volunteering and employment opportunities at its Carlton Wellbeing Precinct, which is currently under construction.

"We will have expressions of interest forms available for visitors to register their interest in volunteering opportunities or aged care roles at the Carlton Wellbeing Precinct.

"When completed, the facility will offer independent living, high and low-care beds and wellbeing facilities for around 360 people, making it one of Australia’s largest inner city retirement and aged care developments. The Precinct will provide personal and domestic services as well as a seniors’ gym, hydrotherapy pool and medical consulting clinics for residents and the wider community," Mr McMillan said.

Ends.
