Multiplexers With Advanced Ring Support Boost Network Reliability

Announcement posted by Paclink 26 Feb 2003

New Version Offers Resilient Fast Ethernet Rungs, TDMoIP and Manageable V.51
Paclink announces that RAD Data Communications has announced upgraded hardware and software (Phase 9.0) for the Megaplex family of modular, integrated, multiservice access multiplexers. Among the new enhancements to the Megaplex-2100, Megaplex-2104 and Megaplex-2200 multiplexers, most notable is the extended support for the ring networks. Any daisy-chain (E1, T1 or Fast Ethernet) can be closed to form a ring with inherent protection and resiliency.
Reliable, Ethernet-Based Ring
RADs innovate Resilient Fast Ethernet Ring (RFER) technology, available with the new Megaples ML-IP module, introduces self-healing capabilities on 100Mbps Fast Ethernet fibre or copper rings. In case of link failure on any segment of the ring, RFER reroutes traffic within 50milliseconds. This enables enterprises, campuses, and power and transportation companies too create a highly reliable network using dark fibre or dry copper in a ring topology. Multiple rings eliminate the risk of a single point of failure.
Support for RADs TDMoIP technology increases the versatility of the Megaplex ring by enabling transmission of E1/T1 circuits over IP/Ethernet based networks. The Megaplex with TDMoIP is compatible with RADs Ipmux family of TDMoIP gateways.
Fast Protection on E1/T1 Rings
E1/T1 ring functionality can now be configured using one database. This eases configuration, allows an unlimited number I nodes per ring and speeds protection to 5 secinds.
Complete, Manageable V5.1 Solution
Fully configurable V5.1 functionality allows grooming multiple POTS and ISDN channels on one V5.1 port reducing the number of interfaces required from the PBX/Class 5 switch. The V5 ETSI protocols are used for optimising voice traffic.
Additional features introduces on this new version included added redundancy in the user port and D-channel compression, which reduces required bandwidth.
Available from Paclink the RRP for Phase 9.0 ranges from AUD 7087 (ex GST).
