Acrobatic gymnasts head to Queensland Cup

Acrobatic gymnasts from across Queensland will battle it out at the Super Performance Centre on the Gold Coast for the Gymnastics Queensland Acrobatics Queensland Cup this weekend.

Over 207 gymnasts from 11 clubs are expected to put on an impressive display for spectators as they compete against the best in the state.

Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer said the event would demonstrate the high standards on offer in Queensland and looked forward to a highly competitive field.

“Sports Acrobatics is a popular choice with gymnasts as it works to perfect the art of balance and co-ordination and nurtures these skills while working in a team environment,” said Ms Dowdell.

“It’s a partner sport for couples, trios and quads which combines strength, flexibility and the technical precision of gymnastics as well as the grace and musical flow of dance.  Most importantly it requires a high level of trust and camaraderie between partners which adds to the appeal of this discipline of gymnastics.”

“We encourage those interested to come along and see some of our finest competitors perform and wish all our gymnasts from across the State the best of luck.”
