BugHerd Named "Cool Vendor" by Leading Analyst Firm Gartner

Announcement posted by BugHerd Pty Ltd 21 May 2013

BugHerd Pty Ltd, a leading provider of issue tracking software for web teams, has been included the list of "Cool Vendors" 2013 report by global technology research giant Gartner Inc.

Most project managers or development teams have faced the issue at one time or another of needing to allow clients and or users to give feedback on a website. However, traditional tools in this space are designed with software engineers in mind and are often of little use for anyone else due to complicated feature sets and cumbersome interfaces. Conversely, BugHerd is designed to source feedback from non-technical people, such as clients, managers or end users. It's all done within the context of the web page, allowing users to give feedback via a simple point and click interface.

Ray Valdes, VP Web Services at Gartner Inc, thinks that Bugherd's appeal due to its interface.

"The BugHerd interface is highly visual and compelling, and therefore has greater appeal to designers than other issue-tracking software, a category of software traditionally oriented to engineers"

He goes on to conclude that "BugHerd is useful for quality control purposes as well as for enterprise teams working with outside design firms. BugHerd allows a site reviewer to annotate a page and identify issues by filling out a bug report in context. The bug or issue report can be associated with a specific spot on the page. The issue can be assigned to team members, and cleared when the bug has been fixed… Even if you do not choose to use this service, it is worth viewing the demo, to see an instance of a simple but impactful UX design."

The recognition is part of a number of awards BugHerd has picked up recently including .net magazine's "Best Web Development Tool 2012", being included as a finalist in .net magazine's " Game Changer of the Year 2012" and the People’s Choice Award at the leading Australian technology awards, Tech23

"This is great recognition of our belief in creating software that is at once simple, usable & powerful. BugHerd began as a tool for web designers and freelance developers to easily manage feedback from non-technical clients, " said Alan Downie, CEO of Bugherd "However today we find more and more of our customers are larger enterprise teams and communications agencies using our product primarily as a collaboration tool. We have concentrated on making BugHerd do certain things very well rather than adding feature after feature. While it may not be for everyone the feedback we get is extremely positive because, as a result of its simplicity, people just get it"
