Announcement posted by Green Planet Grass 28 May 2013

Green Planet Grass, leaders in the design and manufacture of artificial grass in Perth, reveals why this conference represents unprecedented opportunity to continue the evolution of artificial turf.
Perth, WA, May 28, 2013 - In Sydney, on 12th to 13th June of this year, a historic conference and expo will take place at the Rosehill Racecourse. The National Synthetic Surfaces Conference and Expo will bring major manufacturers of artificial turf, international sports league officers, and a host of facilitators and lecturers together under one roof for the first time.

The conference was created by Parks and Leisure Australia, with support from Interpoint events and the Smart Connection Company. It was created to help further the cause of providing artificial turf for sport, play, and recreational applications. It is designed to be a one stop shop for all things pertaining to artificial grass and synthetic surfaces.

Over 250 delegates are currently booked to attend the conference. More than 50 exhibitors will be on hand to provide first-hand experience of artificial turf and synthetic surfaces to those in attendance. Visitors will have the opportunity to touch and feel artificial turf, and some nearby sites with artificial turf will be displayed for those who wish to see some projects on a larger scale.

An impressive roster of speakers is scheduled to give presentations at the conference. Martin Sheppard, who is the Managing Director of the Smart Connection Company, will chair two days of informative Sessions.

On day one, Leanne Walsh of the International Rugby Board in Ireland will discuss the One Turf Standard. Kate Fraser from the Australian Standards Committee for Playgrounds will discuss how artificial turf affects recreation and play for children. Alastair Cox, the director of Labosport, which is the world's largest sport testing laboratory, will discuss the future of sport surface standards in major organisations across the globe, including FIFA, FIH, and the IRB. Terry Evans, CEO of Hockey ACT, will discuss optimising usage of artificial turf pitches.

On day two, site visits will be conducted for various artificial turf pitches. Fiona Robbé, who is the Director of Architects of Arcadia, will discuss how artificial grass surfaces can help foster accessibility and inclusion for play. Brendan Sheehan, who is the Planning and Facilities Project Coordinator of Community Facilities for Sport and Recreation Victoria, will discuss the use of artificial grass surfaces in schools. The Operations Manager of Tennis Australia, Paul Cammack, will discuss a variety of topics concerning the use of synthetic tennis courts, many of which are in the Perth area.

Justin Everley, Director of Green Planet Grass, is optimistic that the conference and expo will be invaluable for  providers and manufacturers of artificial grass in Australia: “The conference and expo are bringing a lot of very influential people under one roof. There is a lot of opportunity to exchange information, and to network with other professionals with the goal of furthering our industry.”

Everley continued, “We also look at the conference as a chance to gather information that can help us improve our product. We pride ourselves on knowing what developments are happening within our industry. Our goal is to make the best and most environmentally-responsible artificial turf, not only in Perth, but in WA and Australia as well.”
