Sydney, NSW, 17 June 2013

Australian Careers Business College has been selected as a Finalist in the Telstra New South Wales Business Awards in the Medium Business Award category, standing out amongst close to 1,000 entrants in the state.

“To be a finalist for such a prestigious award is an honour. It’s a testament to our dedicated Career Advisors, Trainers and Support Staff, who work with over 700 students each year, transforming them from high school graduates to career ready professionals or second year university entrants” said CEO and founder Ann Elisha.

Australian Careers Business College has been delivering vocational qualifications since 1996 when Ann saw a market opportunity to create a student-focused vocational education institute, launching in Liverpool offering three courses to just over 40 students. 17 years later the college is thriving, with campuses in Liverpool, Parramatta and Wollongong, delivering nationally recognised qualifications to over 700 students in Marketing, Accounting, Childcare, Tourism, Legal Studies, Business Administration and IT.

Following award submission in April, the stringent judging process included a site visit, management interview and presentation to members of the judging panel, all of which were seen by the business as a good opportunity to reflect on the business to date.

The business has enjoyed year on year growth for the last five years, with double digit turnover and enrolment growth versus 2012 and is still delivering a student-focussed education experience with a commitment to providing pathways to a rewarding career or university entry to high school graduates.

“Winning this award would be the ‘icing on the cake’ for our 17 years of commitment to Australia’s VET system. With such an award on our shelf, we would have the courage and mandate to aim for new benchmark in educational excellence, exceeding today’s best-practice models and empowering more students to achieve through education and training” added Ann. The winner will be announced at a Gala Dinner on July 9th at the Hilton Sydney.
