The University of Wollongong (UOW) Early Admission program is how students can earn a place to study at the University before they sit their HSC exams.
Applicants are assessed based on their academic performance in Years 11 and 12.
The program uses a two-part assessment system, where University first looks at the applicants’ academic transcript for evidence of strong academic performance relevant to their nominated UOW degree.
After passing the first round, students are then invited to the University for an interview where UOW assessors look for appropriate personal attributes to succeed at the University.
Successful applicants will receive an offer to study through the UAC Early Offer Round in early December instead of the UAC Main Offer Round in 2014.
UOW Assistant National Marketing Manager Janet Holen says the program demonstrates UOW’s commitment to finding quality students.
“The ATAR is an excellent indicator of a student’s ability to succeed at university, but it doesn’t always tell the whole story. Often, high performance in relevant subjects indicates a student is ready for university study.”
“We also have to consider personal attributes that have no direct influence on that ATAR, such as passion for a study area, determination and perseverance—all strong indicators for success at the University of Wollongong.”
