Illawarra Business Owners Convoy to National Excellence Awards

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA. 21 June 2013 - Illawarra Narellan Pools Franchisees Danny and Fiona Harvey have been named the NSW/ACT Winners for the Franchisee Community Service Award. The Harvey’s determined spirit and generous involvement with the Camp Quality Illawarra organization saw the pair excel in the award category filled with gallant and community focused business owners.

The achievement recognises the couple’s fantastic and ongoing engagement with, and contributions to the renowned Charity, which works to help kids living with cancer by bringing laughter into their lives. The couple are now in contention to win the National award as part of the Franchise Council of Australia’s 2013 Excellence in Franchising Awards.

“We are passionate about our yearly involvement with the i98fm Camp Quality Convoy… It’s become an integral part of our year and an important aspect of our business. Being nominated as a finalist in a community service category is fantastic recognition for something we believe to be incredibly important,” commented Fiona.

The Harvey’s first approached Camp Quality Illawarra seven years ago and are now ardent supporters of the annual i98fm Camp Quality Convoy, Illawarra’s biggest one day fundraiser and (unofficial) largest truck convoy in the world. The couple donate pool prizes to the i98fm Camp Quality Convoy Raffle, which this year, thanks to the combined efforts of local business owners, raised an incredible $30,000. The funds raised contributed to the convoys total collection of $1,033,921.00, a phenomenal result that was all donated to the Illawarra community’s families going through a rough time with their kids.

The feeling of community fostered by the Harvey’s during the convoy has been revisited since they were announced as National Finalists during the Franchising Awards Gala Dinner hosted on Friday evening. The pair have received extraordinary support from their local community, a reflection of their deservedness, and received proud mention in the local radio stations morning news broadcast on Tuesday (18^th June).

The objective and rigorous judging process applied to the NSW/ACT finalist awards will be amplified for the NAB FCA National Excellence in Franchising Awards. The FCA will fly the Harvey’s to the sold out event, held at Jupiters Hotel and Casino in the Gold Coast on Tuesday 22 October, where the National Winner for Franchisee Community Service 2013 will be announced.
