Illawarra Clubs are leading the way in reducing their energy consumption and reducing their electricity costs as well as their carbon foot-print.

Figtree RSL Bowling Club and Thirroul Bowling, Leagues & Recreation Club are two Illawarra clubs that have recently through Frog Solutions implemented lighting retrofits utilising modern low energy LED lighting throughout all areas of their operations. These include bistro, entertainment, function spaces, cellars, offices, cool rooms and other common and outdoor areas.

The premises were fitted with energy saving lights as part of their goal to become more sustainable.      

The LED lights which are manufactured by Frog Solutions lighting partner Illum-A-Lite provide up to a 40% power usage reduction and additionally provide a 50, 000 hour bulb life. In addition to the cost benefits achieved maintenance requirements are minimised with the extended operational life span with additional benefits being reduced toxic waste for landfill.  

The clubs carbon footprint will reduce by approx. 160 tonnes of CO2 per annum at Figtree RSL Bowling and 100 tons at Thirroul Bowling. This equates to the equivalent of removing around 9,000 vehicles from Illawarra roads. 

Thirroul Bowling General Manager Glenn MacMillan told Frog Solutions the financial savings to his club will be in excess of  $35,000 per annum with Figtree RSL also saving in excess of $35,000.Higher anticipated electricity prices will additionally increase these savings.               

Both clubs were approved for the NSW Energy Saving Scheme which provided them with a rebate that assisted them with towards the project.

The NSW Energy Saving Scheme is available to any business or not for profit organisation to assist them in moving to environmentally sustainable energy reductions. Frog Solutions completes and manages the entire application process for their prospective clients.
