Announcement posted by Presence Online 02 Oct 2001

Combination of Products and Services Enables Customers to Tailor Web Content Management Solutions to Meet Specific e-business Needs
IBM today announced the availability of the Lotus Web Content Management Solution, a end-to-end combination of products, business consulting and Lotus Professional Services that enables customers to deploy customized Web content management solutions tailored to address specific business needs. While "turn-key" content management products address a specific part of a customer's Web content needs, today's offering will help IBM customers identify the complete range of Web content management needs and leverage the appropriate technology to deliver a tailored, highly-personalized, dynamic and interactive Web experiences to their end users.

Today's announcement builds upon IBM's leadership in the enterprise content management space by complementing other products in the IBM portfolio of solutions, including the IBM Content Manager, based on DB2 software. This unique offering gives customers the ability to efficiently manage online content in their intranet, extranet and Internet environments, and will reduce the need for customized programming and education commonly associated with other specialized Web content management solutions. With the Lotus Web Content Management Solution, IBM offers one of the most cost-effective Web content management solutions available today by combining secure collaborative content creation features, graphical workflow processing tools, powerful site creation/maintenance capabilities, personalized content delivery, e-Commerce transaction support, and a standards-based architecture.

"While content management has become increasingly important for enterprise customers, it has also become increasingly challenging," said Doug Armstrong, Partner, Technology Integration Services, Andersen. "The Lotus Web Content Management Solution is well-positioned in the marketplace with its offering of products and services to address web content management needs. Andersen is pleased to team with IBM to deliver these end-to-end, tailored solutions to our enterprise customers."

The emerging enterprise content management market is the next phase of data management, enabling customers to collect, manage and distribute all forms of business information including financial statements, shipping audio and video images and link it to core business processes. Currently, IBM is the only vendor that has all of the necessary pieces in the enterprise content management space, including internal portal, workflow, Web content management and storage management options that customers need to build an enterprise content management system.

Comprised of both products and services, the Lotus Web Content Management Solution extends the WebSphere and Lotus Domino infrastructure platforms while providing business consulting services from Andersen, and implementation, education, and solution delivery from Lotus Professional Services. Individual technology components deployed based on individual customer need include Lotus Domino, Lotus Domino.Doc, Lotus Workflow, Lotus Sametime, Lotus QuickPlace, IBM's WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Personalization, and WebSphere Commerce Suite. Also included in the solution is Aptrix from Presence Online, a comprehensive, integrated suite of products which provide distributed web content management and personalization services atop either Lotus Domino or WebSphere, or a combination of both platforms. Aptrix is integrated with IBM Content Manager and IBM Enterprise Information Portal to provide an enterprise-wide content management infrastructure for deploying a diverse array of content-enabled business applications.

"Now is the time that many companies are realising their 'homegrown' solutions, patched together over time, are no longer sufficient to support the exponential increase in content deployed to their websites," commented Presence Online Director, Tim Birdsall. "Web Content Management remains one of the top growth areas within the IT space, and the inclusion of our Aptrix Multi-Platform in the Lotus Web Content Management Solution is a win for Presence Online, for IBM, and most important, for our customers."

"Lotus Professional Services specializes in building end-to-end, mission critical content management solutions," said Steve Robinson, Director, Worldwide Lotus Professional Services Division, IBM. "By partnering, we have a unique opportunity to provide customers with Andersen's business consulting practice and the architecture, solution and delivery expertise of Lotus Professional Services."

By leveraging the transactional capabilities of the WebSphere family of products along with the collaborative functionality of Lotus software, the Lotus Web Content Management Solution addresses a complete range of B2C, B2E, and B2B web content management requirements. Seamlessly integrated with virtually any back-end data management system, including order processing, inventory control, and ERP, the Lotus Web Content Management Solution gives customers the industry's most complete, dynamic web content management offerings for their e-business strategy.
