Uber doubles the reward for sharing the Uber app with friends

Announcement posted by Bradford Public Relations 02 Jul 2013

SYDNEY, MELBOURNE, 2 July 2013: Since launching in Sydney in November and Melbourne in February, Uber has quickly become the classiest, safest, and most reliable way to travel in both cities. With a rapidly growing user base and large network of drivers who use the system, Uber announced today a new, week-long campaign to reward users who share the app with their friends by giving both a $20 credit.

Dubbed “Give $20, Get $20”, existing users invite friends to join Uber with their own personal code. On sign up, the new user receives a $20 credit and when they ride, and the person who introduced them also receives a $20 credit. Anyone with an Uber account can invite up to 50 people - if all those 50 people ride in an Uber before 8pm, Monday 8 July, the referrer will find $1000 in Uber credit on their account.

"Most people discover Uber when they first see a friend roll up to an event in an unmarked Audi A8 instead of a regular taxi. As a result, we see lots of people join when travelling in a car with an existing Uber user. We’re now giving users even more reason to share the Uber love with their friends," said Uber Sydney’s Oscar Peppitt.

"Uber makes the whole process of getting a ride awesome. Riders know who is coming to pick them up, payment is automatic and if there's ever a query about anything, we're right here to help. Even without the incentive, there's plenty of reasons to share Uber. It just so happens that this week, the more you give, the more you get," said Uber Melbourne’s Tim Webster.

Every person who has the Uber app installed on their smartphone already has their own unique code to share with friends. To find it, users simply tap the top left icon in the app, then select SHARE. Users can even customise the code to make it easier to remember by logging into their account online.

Uber is now in 35 cities around the world and the same app can be used in every location, making it the perfect app for travellers.
