Cosmetic for a Cause month: Buy top brand cosmetics for just $1 and help fight child sexual assault

Announcement posted by Beauty Corner 03 Jul 2013

This July is Cosmetics for a Cause month where shoppers can stock up on big name cosmetic brands for just $1 as part of the 1 in 5 campaign launched today by Australia’s leading child protection organisation, Bravehearts.
SYDNEY – 1ST JULY, 2013: Bravehearts in partnership with Dollar Cosmetics Club. The campaign aims to promote the education and protection of Australian kids against sexual assault. Research* shows that 1 in 5 Australian children will be sexually assaulted before their 18th birthday – or 59,000 kids every year. Bravehearts aims to halve that figure by 2020.

To help raise awareness and much needed funds to achieve this vision, Dollar Cosmetic Club, the social enterprise arm of Beauty Corner, is offering new $1 cosmetic deals every day during the month-long campaign, and will be donating every dollar spent to Bravehearts. This means shoppers will have the opportunity to not only support the education and protection of Australian kids, but also stock up and save on their favourite cosmetic brands including Elizabeth Arden, Revlon and Maybelline.

Bravehearts Founder and Executive Director Hetty Johnston said with the support of Dollar Cosmetic Club consumers, Bravehearts can inch closer to achieving its goal.

“This is a brilliant way to raise awareness around the issue of child sexual assault and we applaud Dollar Cosmetics Club for helping us to raise much needed funds so that we can better educate, empower and protect Australian children from this abhorrent crime,” she said.

Last year Dollar Cosmetic Club raised $44,735 for the McGrath Foundation. This year Dollar Cosmetics Club hopes to raise $59,000 for Bravehearts

*Research consistently shows that approximately 1 in 5 children will be a victim of some form of sexual exploitation before the age of 18 - (James, 2000, Centre for Disease Control and Prevention 2006).
