BRISBANE: Small business accounting expert and Xero advisor Heather Smith is helping global businesses maximise their investment in the cloud accounting platform, with the newly released Xero for Dummies.

Published in Australia and New Zealand in July by Wiley Publishing, Brisbane-based Ms Smith authored the step-by-step guide which provides a comprehensive introduction to Xero in an easy-to-understand format.

Heather says the book went to reprint in seven days, and is a natural follow-on for her recently published Learn Small Business Start-Up in 7 Days.

“Investing in a new, or different accounting software can be a steep learning curve for small business owners or accounts staff,” Ms Smith says.

“Using this book, readers can quickly get started with the basics, from setting up an accounting system to more detailed operations, such as maximising revenue, profits and cash flow.

“Xero is a comprehensive accounts product and the advantages of working ‘in the cloud’ can save valuable time and effort in a competitive environment.

“I hope that my new guide can take some of the stress out of the financial side of running your own business.”

Xero For Dummies also offers key advice on topics including switching over from another accounting software, setting up customers and suppliers, dealing with multi-currency transactions, using Xero's dashboards and robust reporting capabilities, and much more.
