Blue Pyrenees exceeds with 5 stars on its 50th Anniversary

Announcement posted by White Ink 25 Jul 2013

Media Release 25 July 2013

This has been a momentous year thus far for Blue Pyrenees Estate as it not only marks the 50th Anniversary of producing standout wines in Australia but also receiving one of the highest accolades in the industry – recently joining the elite group of 5 Star wineries as rated by James Halliday in his 2014 Australian Wine Companion.

It is a great honour to receive a prestigious 5 Star Halliday rating and fulfilling the criteria as an outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicality. To receive such a title, Blue Pyrenees Estate exceeded with their long history of producing superior wines in the competitive Australian wine industry, with wines such as its 94 point Reserve Shiraz 2008 (RRP$32), 94 point Sparkling Shiraz NV (RRP $24), 93 point The Richardson Series Shiraz 2009 (RRP$50) and 93 point Midnight Cuvee 2008 (RRP$29), surpassing the rest with these high scores from one of the nation’s most respected wine critics, James Halliday.

Such an accomplishment comes at a fitting time for Blue Pyrenees Estate as they celebrate and pay tribute to their rich French history. Operating since 1963, all Blue Pyrenees Estate wines are 100% Estate grown on its impressive 150 hectare spread that successfully utilises the cool climate growing conditions of the Pyrenees wine region. The Estate has seen many a festivity in 2013, such as the extravagant black tie 50th Anniversary Midnight Harvest Dinner held in winery’s Barrel Hall in February earlier in the year. The event paid homage to Blue Pyrenees’ French heritage and respect to the Estate’s founders, Remy Martin. Most recently, a Seduction by Tastebuds luncheon held at the cellar door saw BPE wines paired with local gourmet food prepared by chefs at The Avoca Hotel.

As noted, Blue Pyrenees (just like its wine) continues to only improve with age... watch the video here of Vincent Gere of Remy Martin Estate toast to the 50th Anniversary.

However this is only the halfway mark through 2013 for the glowing Blue Pyrenees Estate. The annual Blue Pyrenees Avoca Cup iscoming up this spring on Saturday 19th October at the Avoca Shire Turf Club and promises to be another highly anticipated event in the heart of the Pyrenees wine region.
