Green Lawns in Winter? Only with Artificial Grass

Announcement posted by Green Planet Grass 26 Jul 2013

Green Planet Grass, manufacturer and installer of synthetic grass in Perth, reveals why artificial lawns are superior to natural grass in the winter.
Perth, WA, July 26, 2013 - In a recent blog post, Green Planet Grass proposed a novel method for determining which houses have artificial grass in Perth. They suggested waiting until winter and simply taking a neighbourhood tour. They concluded that the lawns that are brown and patchy would be natural grass, while the lawns that are lush and green would most likely be artificial grass.

Artificial turf has been around since 1966 when the Houston Astrodome was equipped with the first generation of artificial grass, dubbed “Astro Turf.” While the domed stadium was originally seen as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the turf itself was roundly criticised by athletes because it was hard, led to injuries and didn't really look much like grass.

In the next 47 years, artificial turf would undergo major changes due to leaps in technology. Eventually, an infill of sand and rubber would be part of all synthetic turf fields; the fibres themselves would begin to feel softer and look much more realistic. Most mainstream companies are currently using what is considered to be “third-generation” artificial turf.

Third-generation turf is so far advanced compared to the original Astro Turf; they almost can't be considered the same product. Many children have been found to prefer playing in artificial grass over natural grass. Artificial turf is now the surface of choice in many stadiums, fields and pitches for many different sports. Playgrounds, lawns and public municipal areas are also installing artificial turf at a record pace.

As a company that has installed over 4,000 artificial lawns, artificial grass tennis courts and synthetic pitches for satisfied customers, Green Planet Grass is in a unique position. Green Planet Grass considers their product a true “next-generation” artificial grass because they have continued to use feedback from customers and installers to constantly improve both the lawn and additional complementary products such as the GPG Pet Fill.

Justin Everley, owner of Green Planet Grass, feels that winter is a perfect time to install Green Planet Grass: “A Green Planet Grass lawn is perfect 365 days a year, but we think it makes even more of a difference in winter. In winter, the cold can turn natural grass brown and create a lot of thin, brown patches and bare spots that turn into mud. This can also create puddles. If you have kids or dogs and carpeting, you probably know what that entails.”

Everley continued, “When you have a Green Planet Grass lawn, you don't have to worry and you don't even have to do much at all. There is little maintenance: no fertilising, no watering, and no lawn-mowing. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy a perfect lawn--every day.”

Everley concluded, “You save time, money and work, while you get to enjoy a lush, green lawn that keeps your kids from getting mud or grass stains on their clothing. What could be better?”
