LAST MINUTE ENTRIES STILL OPEN FOR 2013 CITY2SURF

Announcement posted by Access Public Relations 07 Aug 2013

It’s not too late to enter The Sun-Herald City2Surf presented by Westpac this Sunday.

Anyone wanting to enjoy Sydney’s favourite sporting event can secure a last-minute spot before it sells out by heading to www.city2surf.com.au.

A record-equalling 85,000 participants are expected to descend on Sydney this weekend as the annual festival of fitness and fundraising takes to the streets. Whether running, walking, wheeling or pushing, Sydneysiders from east to west and north to south are invited to join thousands of others along the spectacular 14km course.

“The City2Surf is one of the most famous and inclusive sporting events in the world - there really is nothing like it!” said Race Director Rebecca Wilmer.

“To be part of the sea of people that descends down William St is something to behold. And the electricity and atmosphere all the way along the course is second to none. You’re out there with the community, experiencing an iconic Sydney event and hopefully contributing towards $5million raised for over 700 charities – there really isn’t a feeling like it!”

Since 1971, the City2Surf has raised $20million for Australian charities and this year is set to be a record breaking fundraising event. Celebrity charity ambassadors running on the day include Winners and Losers star Melanie Vallejo, boxers Nigel Benn and Sakio Bita, Diamond and Swifts player Susan Pratley, Australia’s Marathon Man Tristan Miller, TV host Alex Cullen, ex-Masterchef contestant Andy Allen, Olympian Cathy Freeman, actor Harry Cook, Sydney Kings captain James Harvey, TV chef Justine Schofield, ex-Hockeyroos player Kate Hollywood and comedian Mikey Robins.

Other famous faces running the event include Nova 96.9s Wippa, Sarah and Dicko from 2UE, Sunrise presenter Mark Beretta, Dancing Hurdler Michelle Jenneke, Bondi Vet Chris Brown, Paralympian Heath Francis, Olympic rower Francis Hegarty as well as ironmen legends Guy Leech and Trevor Hendy.
