Pizza Hut breaks ground in NZ for first time since 2007

Announcement posted by Access Public Relations 22 Aug 2013

Pizza Hut is looking to shake up the pizza market in New Zealand, opening its first brand new store in six years as a first step to continued expansion in the market.

The new store in Te Awamutu will open Friday and is operated by up-and-coming franchisee Satyan Mehra.

“Our team is excited to be opening the new store and is celebrating with a grand opening day the whole community can enjoy.

“Taranaki-King Country Member of Parliament, Shane Ardern and Waipa Mayor, Alan Livingston will kick it all off with ribbon cutting around midday before the store officially opens and takes its first pizza order at 2pm,” Mehra said.

Pizza Hut Head of Development, Andy Masood said the opening of the new outlet signalled a renewed focus on the market and was an exciting time for the brand.

“We’re thrilled to see the brand expanding once again in New Zealand. There are a number of additional expansion opportunities in the region and anyone looking to align themselves with a global brand should certainly consider speaking to us,” Masood said.

Mehra added: “I always wanted to own my own business and was instantly attracted to Pizza Hut because of its global presence and transparency through being a listed company.

Pizza Hut Te Awamutu will open Friday, 23 August and is located at 2/670 Cambridge Road. Opening hours will be from 11.30am to 11pm, Sunday to Thursday, and 11.30am to midnight, Friday and Saturday.
