Borlands Requirement and Change Management Solutions Help TNT Logistics Control Development Processes, Increase Productivity and Manage Change
Borland Software Corporation (NASDAQ NM: BORL, www.borland.com), the global leader for Software Delivery Optimization, today announced that TNT Logistics North America has standardized development on Borlands Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions. Borlands integrated solutions for requirement, configuration and change management, along with training and consulting services provided by Orasi Global Services, have enabled the global logistics provider to transform its application delivery lifecycle into a managed business process, increasing development productivity while providing a reduction in requirements-related rework.
Borland offered the most comprehensive, integrated set of ALM tools. When stacked up against competitors such as IBM Rational, Borland earned the best overall score in our evaluation process, said Terry Tutt, director of technology services at TNT Logistics North America. We have a very simple motto here: On time. As expected. Within budget. It is how we operate efficiently as a development organization, and the Borland solution helps make our motto a reality.
TNT Logistics designs, implements and operates complex supply chain solutions on a national, regional or global scale for medium to large enterprises and employs 40,000 people in 40 countries around the world. Automation creates tremendous advantage for companies in the supply chain business. At TNT Logistics, a standard global information technology infrastructure based on its flagship Matrix Supply Chain technology, delivers that competitive edge by integrating the companys solutions with those of its leading shipping partners and end-use customers around the world. Driven by success, the TNT Logistics IT team was tasked with implementing the Matrix Supply Chain application across a rapidly increasing number of global sites. To manage this task, the team established a standard set of processes that would increase development productivity and enable the team to keep pace with the volume of customization and development requests.
Borlands ALM solutions, along with consulting and training service from Orasi Global Services, have enabled TNT Logistics to gain more visibility, control, and efficiency across its software development lifecycle. Systems analysts use Borland CaliberRM to electronically capture and manage a wide variety of requirements gathered from internal customers around the world. These requirements are automatically fed into the Borland StarTeam configuration management solution to enable organized, automated change management, defect tracking, file versioning and task management.
Borlands ALM solutions are designed to give TNT Logistics centralized visibility and control over all project assets so development stays on schedule and within scope. TNT can now trace business, technical, functional and test requirements all the way through the lifecycle, minimizing the number of misinterpreted requirements and eliminating costly rework late in the design cycle. In the coming months, TNT Logistics application team will begin to use Borland Together UML modeling technology to link business process and application modeling and visualization to the requirements and change management processes currently in place.
