Record Dry Winter Causes Artificial Grass Rush in Perth

Announcement posted by Green Planet Grass 03 Dec 2013

Synthetic grass manufacturer reveals why so many Perth residents are turning to artificial grass solutions after a dry winter.
Perth, WA, October 2, 2013 - According to the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Perth had nearly 27% less rainfall than the historical averages and had the driest June in its history. According to Green Planet Grass, a Perth manufacturer of artificial grass, this has caused more inquiries about synthetic grass than would be the norm for winter.

According to Justin Everley, director of Green Planet Grass, the dry winter has a lot of people worried about a summer drought: “We are receiving a lot of calls about artificial lawns already, with a lot of people looking ahead to a dry summer full of water shortages and restrictions.”

In June, Perth received 44.0 mm of rainfall, when the average would be 175.4 mm. Even though July was average and August had slightly more rainfall than usual, Perth only ended up with 351.4 mm of rainfall for June, July and August combined, compared to a historical average of 477.2 mm. This left Perth with a deficit of 125.8 mm of rainfall when compared to the historical average.

When it is taken into consideration that Perth currently has a water storage level equalling 24.7% of its capacity, it can be stated with certainty that Perth is suffering from a water shortage. This means that watering restrictions should be in full force again this year, making it more difficult for Perth residents to keep their lawns green.

Perth residents, like many across Australia, are looking at artificial grass as the solution to their lawn problems. Artificial grass has an initial investment, but after that investment, the costs are minimal. There is no watering, no chemicals, no mowing, occasional weeding and nearly no maintenance at all.

Instead of spending up to 70% of their water costs on their lawns, Perth residents can save that 70%. In addition, they can also save the time and energy that so many put into trying to keep a natural grass lawn green.

With a synthetic lawn, there are no worries about brown spots or dead grass. Instead, a Green Planet Grass artificial lawn allows Perth residents to have a lawn that is green and lush, every day of every year, rain or shine, hot or cold. This has produced a very busy winter and spring for Green Planet Grass and they are projecting an even busier summer.

According to Everley: “People are starting to take notice. When theories of global warming and environmental responsibility were first presented to the public, they were met with scepticism and derision. They were something far off into the future and they couldn't really be proven. Now, though, it is getting hotter and drier every year. Whether one believes in any of the theory, it is impossible to deny that the weather patterns are changing in Perth. This is causing a lot of people to think about just how bad it could get and a lot of people are choosing artificial grass as a solution to their lawn dilemmas.”

Everley concluded, “Whether or not you agree with us about the importance of trying to save water, you cannot deny that the weather seems to be getting hotter and drier every year. If you won't switch to artificial grass for the environment, switch to save money.”
