iPark Singapore Hosts Investor Relations Forum for ASEAN Businesses Looking To Ride On Korean IT Software Companies Technological Prowess
iPark Singapore / Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA), the Southeast Asia promotion base and gateway to Koreas world-class Information Communication Technology (ICT), today hosted the Korean ICT Investment Marketplace 2005 at the Raffles Town Club, where a strong contingent of promising Korean IT software companies and ASEAN venture capitalists and equity investors congregated to explore potential partnerships and investment opportunities.
More than 60 ASEAN companies, with the majority from Singapore, turned up at the full-day event which was aimed at providing ASEAN IT companies and investors / venture capitalists with a platform to interact and gain insights to some of Koreas leading software technology companies that were being showcased.
iPark Singapore / KIPA plays a pivotal role in introducing local and regional IT entrepreneurs to Korean software companies. We are pleased at the very positive turnout of ASEAN-based venture capitalists and investors, business partners and agencies who are keen to leverage and capitalise on the soaring ICT industry in Korea through partnerships or collaborations, says Mr Bob Chua, Chief Executive Director, iPark Singapore.
Korea is known for its dynamic IT industry and world-class ICT infrastructure. This industry has always been the key driving force of the Korean economy. To enhance competitiveness in the IT field, the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) formulated the IT839 Strategy, whereby new IT services are being introduced to boost investments in network infrastructure, while simultaneously synergising with cutting-edge devices, equipment, software and contents.
"The strategic initiatives outlined in IT839 Strategy will undoubtedly propel the growth of Koreas IT industry to a new level by capitalizing on its superior IT infrastructure to develop revolutionary IT services," says Mr. Chua. Similarly, in Singapore, the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) recently announced three major initiatives to further develop Singapore's 10-year IT Masterplan - Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015), a technology blueprint for the next decade. Evidently, Infocomm Technology is an imperative aspect which can help both Singapore and Korea accentuate one anothers progression to becoming an IT hub in their respective regions, and thrive despite the challenges in a dynamic business world.
GY Intech, HoonSecure, CyRun Co. and PayLetter Inc, were among 14 established Korean companies (companiesbackground as enclosed) who demonstrated their IT capabilities at the event. In addition, they gave presentations on industry trends ranging from home-entertainment and online gaming industry to network security and e-learning solutions.
Besides providing a platform for participants to exchange views and perspectives pertaining to the local and international ICT industry at the Korean ICT Investment Marketplace 2005 Forum, iPark Singapore / KIPA also aspires to promote potential business opportunities across international borders through the invaluable networking opportunities at the forum.
