BlueChilli founder Sebastien Eckersley-Maslin named Entrepreneur of the Year

Eckersley-Maslin wins EY’s Australian Entrepreneur of the Year in the emerging category


Sydney, 22 November 2013 - BlueChilli founder and CEO Sebastien Eckersley-Maslin was awarded EY Australian Entrepreneur of the Year in the Emerging category at the National finals event last night in Sydney. 

The Emerging category recognizes Entrepreneurs who are running companies less than 5 years old or who themselves are younger than 35. At 31, Eckersley-Maslin satisfied both criteria.

Accepting the award from Tour de France winner Cadel Evans, Eckersley-Maslin said that the award represented a significant achievement for a young startup and that his ambition was "to empower BlueChilli's invested founders to win the award in the near future". 

Eckersley-Maslin joins an impressive EY alumni including category winners Atlassian's founders Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar, Red Balloon's Naomi Simpson, iinet's Michael Malone and Freelancer's Matt Barrie.

Andrew Bassat, CEO of Seek won the overall Entrepreneur of the Year for Australia and will represent Australia in the world Entrepreneur of the Year in 2014.

BlueChilli builds and invests in online companies with a vision to invest in 100 companies by 2016.  To date BlueChilli has made 37 investments.
