LYTRO DELIVERS A NEW 3D LIVING PICTURE EXPERIENCE

Announcement posted by Lytro 28 Nov 2013

Across mobile and desktop

Lytro, creator of the world’s first consumer light field camera, have announced Lytro 3D, a collection of features that delivers a new way for everyone to experience living pictures in 3D on their desktop and on mobile devices.

With the release of Lytro Desktop 3.1 for Mac and Windows now available for download at Lytro.com and Lytro Mobile 1.2 for iOS, living pictures that have been processed for Perspective Shift can now take on a new dimension of storytelling in 3D. You can show off your living pictures in Presentation Mode as 3D images on the updated Lytro Desktop and Mobile App and, by connecting to a 3D-capable TV over HDMI or Apple AirPlay, the Lytro 3D experience can be extended to the living room for everyone to enjoy. Lytro is the first camera that allows photographers to create a 3D image with a single exposure at the push of a button.

“The beauty and power of Light Field Technology is that we are able to continue to expand on how living pictures are experienced, first with Perspective Shift and now 3D,” said Jason Rosenthal, CEO, Lytro. “Lytro remains committed to delivering new ways to make visual storytelling more immersive and engaging through innovative software and hardware.”

Perspective Shift lets Lytro photographers interactively change the point of view in a picture after it has been taken. On a computer or mobile device, viewers can move the living picture in any direction — left, right, up, down and all around. When pictures are shared to the web, Facebook and Twitter, friends can experience Perspective Shift without needing any special software. Perspective Shift also works retroactively on any light field pictures previously taken with a Lytro camera.

Earlier this year Lytro introduced the Lytro Mobile App. This iOS app lets people use their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch device to experience and share light field pictures taken with Lytro cameras to Lytro.com, Facebook and Twitter or via email or SMS. The app communicates with Lytro cameras, whose wireless capabilities can be activated with a free software update, letting camera owners preview and upload pictures to Lytro.com directly from their iOS device while on the go, using either a cellular or Wi-Fi network. The Lytro Mobile App is available as a free download at http://appstore.com/lytro
