Continuing to broaden the reach of CRM to customers, suppliers, employees and partners, PeopleSoft Australia today announced PeopleSoft Customer Relationship Management (CRM), release 8.4. The new release includes PeopleSoft CRM Mobile Sales, PeopleSoft CRM Mobile FieldService, PeopleSoft CRM Quality Management, and PeopleSoft CRM Collaborative Selling. Based on PeopleSoft's breakthrough technology, release 8.4 delivers innovative CRM capabilities in an integrated, pure internet solution, dramatically reducing total cost of ownership and enabling organisations to realise a faster return on investment.

"The year 2002 marks a turning point for CRM as the market continues to mature, and innovative new technologies broaden the reach of CRM to partners, employees, customers and suppliers (PECS)," said Steve Bonadio, senior program director, META Group, Inc. "To jumpstart their CRM initiatives, end user organisations should fixate on integrated CRM solutions that reduce total cost of ownership, and ultimately, clearly demonstrate business value."

PeopleSoft CRM Mobile Sales and Mobile FieldService provides mobile professionals with disconnected access to customer information, anytime, anywhere. Unlike existing mobile solutions, its next generation mobile technology automatically determines what data each user needs to synchronise, enabling users to easily synchronise up to a year of updates in just six minutes - a task that would literally break existing technologies.

Unlike existing mobile solutions, PeopleSoft's breakthrough mobile technology automatically determines what data each user needs to synchronise. PeopleSoft has embedded business application logic directly into its synchronisation technology enabling it to intelligently identify the relationships between customers, transactions, data, and users. This increases the productivity of mobile professionals who no longer have to wait to synchronise irrelevant data.

Combined with the industry's smallest mobile device footprint, PeopleSoft CRM Mobile Sales and Mobile FieldService enable seamless installations and updates through a wired or wireless internet connection, increasing the overall productivity of a mobile professional. PeopleSoft CRM Quality Management enables companies to manage the process of tracking product defects and enhancement requests online, in real time. Customer service inquiries can be routed through the PeopleSoft Support and HelpDesk applications to quickly identify known defects and solutions, improving efficiency and customer satisfaction. The application provides users with instant notification of product updates or enhancement requests. Additionally, the application helps customers manage compliance and certification processes by automatically tracking inquiries according to pre-defined industry standards.

Release 8.4 also includes PeopleSoft CRM Collaborative Selling, an interactive selling solution that enables users to create real-time, scalable product and services configurations through an automated process. The process combines needs analysis, recommendation, configuration, pricing, quoting, and order capture. Providing organisations with a
selling solution that includes both sales and manufacturing processes gives users a better understanding of customers' buying behavior. Self-service capabilities in the solution bring customers and channel partners into the buying process, enabling real-time visibility to orders and services data. As a result, inventory and carrying costs are reduced, and order processing is more effective.

"The release of 8.4 has extended our leadership by setting a standard for global enterprise CRM solutions," said Ray Kloss, PeopleSoft Director Product and Industry Marketing, Asia Pacific. "Its breakthrough functionality and smooth end-to-end solutions ensure the highest level of application for our customers."

PeopleSoft CRM, release 8.4, is scheduled to ship on March 22nd as well as PeopleSoft's synchronisation technology for Windows laptop and PocketPC personal digital assistant (PDA).

PeopleSoft conducted a benchmark simulating synchronisation of 12 months of PeopleSoft Mobile Sales updates from the server to the laptop. Using a local area network, the average synchronisation time was under six minutes, including communication time to send and receive changes and the time required to apply those changes to the mobile database. Using a 56k modem, the average synchronization time was under 10 minutes. The benchmark was conducted with the web server running on a two 1.2 GHz CPU server, the application server running on a six 900 MHz CPU server, and the database server running on a six 900 MHz CPU server.
