Great weather, picturesque destinations and hitting the open road – summer’s an ideal time for a road trip.
Australians set out on almost 250,000 individual road trips domestically each year, many during this time of year[1].
Sadly, travel with family often turns sour, with a quarter of Australian’s believing that car rides cause arguments. Causes include tiredness (59%), back seat driving (46%), getting lost (33%) and repeated toilet stops (33%).[2] And yes, it’s women who report getting more than men.[3] New South Wales is the state most likely to argue (31%) and to get lost (37%) on long car journeys.[4]
Embarrassingly eight per cent of emergency callouts for roadside assistance in Victoria relate to failing to fill up. The national average is around five per cent.
An Australian-built app is making travel easy and argument-free.
“I decided to build the app after visiting friends one evening. I needed to stop for fuel and drinks but got lost and arrived so late as a result,’ said Yi Zhang, Founder of Telkitty Digital.
iiFind is great for life’s travelling necessities like food, fuel and bathroom stops. It shows the best route for a detour to food outlets, ATMs or petrol stations within a 200 kilometres radius at any point between your current location and destination.
‘I can get pretty fussy with what I eat too, so I made sure that people can narrow down their results based on preferences’, said Ms Zhang.
No phone signal or Wi-Fi - no problem. iiFind allows search results to be saved and displayed when travelling through blackspots.
With around 20% of fatal road accidents involve driver fatigue, Ms Zhang hopes her app can help drivers better plan their trip both before the set out and en route.
Features include:
· * Location search for food outlets, ATMs, fuel and public transport.
· * Search multiple categories with single results screen display.
· * View search results on a map or list.
· * Narrow search results to preferred suppliers.
· * Search result information include phone number and website information. One click to call functionality.
· * Save and display results when phone signal and Wi-Fi connection not available.
· *Set visual or audio reminders.
The iiFind app, is available for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad operating systems. A free version, iiFind Lite, is also available for download on app store.
