‘One search, one click, one library platform’ – now more achievable with Liberty v5

The new enhancements support Liberty’s ‘one platform’ development philosophy and enable users to search, read and download OverDrive eBooks, as well as, undertake a google-like federated search – all without leaving Liberty’s search interface within the library catalogue.
Softlink Chief Operating Officer, Mr Nathan Godfrey said the enhancements would empower librarians and information professionals to improve their client-facing services, while creating further efficiencies to support organisational productivity.
Nathan said “From the convenience of the Liberty library catalogue, patrons can undertake a single search and access electronic resources including eBooks, audiobooks, eJournals, videos and other digital formats.

Softlink Product Development Manager, Steve Mayocchi said Liberty’s custom built search would enable librarians, information professionals and other users to broadcast a query to external and customised databases simultaneously and in real-time.
“In addition to ranking, clustering and categorising retrieved results, Liberty’s unique federated search enables the customisation of search channels, offering greater flexibility for organisations with diverse or changing requirements,” he said.
