Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses takes the cake at the Victoria Baking Awards

Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses has taken first prize in both decorated cake categories at the Victorian Baking Show. The Easter-themed Novelty Cake and Chocolate Decorated Mud topped over 300 total entries from over 50 bakeries from across Victoria, South Aus

The award-winning Easter-themed Novelty Cake created by Maria Cerra, Decorating Room Manager, was judged on creativity and skill. Cerra’s cake was inspired by the sense of whimsy and fun of the rabbit characters featured in children’s stories, fairy tales and movies.


Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses CEO Steve Plarre said “The quality of our product has always been paramount - not only the best taste and best ingredients - but the best presentation. This award is a testament to the team’s attention to the design and detail in our products”.

 

Ferguson Plarre also took out third prize for their Chocolate Gateau adding yet another cake to the list of their blue ribbon winners, with nearly thirty cakes taking first place at state and national awards over the last twenty years.

 

Outside of the cake categories Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses added to the medal haul being awarded second place for their Fruit Flan and third place for their Banana Bread, the latter released in June 2013, taking out a prize on its first awards submission.

 

The Victorian Baking Show is managed by the Baking Association of Australia’s Victorian arm.
