EARLYBIRD ENTRIES CLOSE FRIDAY FOR AUSTRALIAN RUNNING FESTIVAL

Announcement posted by Access Public Relations 25 Feb 2014

Challenge yourself at the Australian Running Festival, April 12 and 13, 2014

Earlybird entries will close this Friday, February 28 for the Australian Running Festival, taking place on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13, 2014.

Entrants can save up to $25 on their entry fee if they sign up before midnight on Friday, February 28.

Participants of all abilities can take part in one of the country’s favourite running events, the Australian Running Festival, boasting Australia’s oldest marathon, The Canberra Times Canberra Marathon, an Ultra Marathon and Half Marathon, as well as the adidas 10km and adidas 5km fun runs.

Race Director, Rebecca Wilmer said, “For the first time, The Canberra Times Canberra Marathon and Ultra Marathon will be a one lap course around Lake Burley Griffin, making it a scenic course overall, and more conducive for wheelchair entrants.”

“We expect more than 7,500 local and interstate entrants will take part in the event and use the run as an opportunity to explore Canberra,” Wilmer said.

Entrants are encouraged to raise much needed funds for more than 225 charities. This year a Gold Charity program has been introduced for those who would like to make fundraising the focus of their half marathon or marathon experience. Gold Charities include The Heart Foundation ACT and the Australian Cancer Research Foundation, with the fundraising target set at $300,000.

A new starting area will see all events start near Old Parliament House.
